It has been popular with Ramblers on the recreational route of the Viking Way, which is one of the Rambling routes in the area, from Barton-upon-Humber to Oakham. This gentle route heads south along the Lincolnshire Wolds through territory once occupied by Vikings to Horncastle and Lincoln, finishing near Rutland Water. Almost the entire route forms part of European path E2.It is an ideal base to travel to Melton Mowbray, Grantham, Oakham or Stamford, as all are within a 20 to 25 min min drive A complete Viking Cross in St Bartholomew's Churchyard, Sproxton, dated around 1000 years AD, still stands and is visited from all over the world The Crown Inn is a warm friendly Village Pub that serves good food and wine, and the good sized Letting rooms for bed and Breakfast have one Kingsize and Two Doubles, for those weary travelers, or those who just wish to visit this quaint historic Village.
